White Sands Sunset Stroll, Hike, or Bike

WHITE SANDS

Sunset stroll: A leisurely one-hour, ranger-guided sunset stroll through sand dunes. Learn about the geology, plants and animals of White Sands National Monument. Program starts at the sign along Dunes Drive about 5 miles from the visitor center. Program is free; monument entrance fees apply.

Sunset strolls will start at 6:15 p.m. through Sunday, Sept. 7, 6 p.m. Sept. 8-21, 5:45 p.m. Sept. 22-28, 5:30 Sept. 29 to Oct. 12.

A full moon hike will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7. Reservations are required and can only be made online at www.nps.gov/whsa. Tickets are $5 per person ages 15 and older, $2.50 for children 15 and younger.

Skins and Skulls, a 20-minute talk about the animals of White Sands, will be held at 3 p.m. each weekend in September. Patio talks will be held at 1:30 p.m. each weekend in September. Both programs are free.
